Palazzo Venezia, Monumental halls

Palazzo Venezia, Monumental halls

At the heart of the project is the restoration of the Monumental halls on the piano nobile of Palazzo Venezia, specifically Sala del Mappamondo, Sala delle Battaglie and Sala Regia.
This intervention is being carried out as part of the consolidation works preparatory to the construction of the "Venezia" station for the Metro Line C.

In keeping with the established "Open Site" format, the public can follow the progress of the works through the diary published on this page: regular video interviews with the restorers provide insights into the decay issues and the solutions implemented to resolve them.

Furthermore, twice a month between May and June 2026, visitors can climb the scaffolding for the unique experience of viewing the artworks up close and hearing directly from the restorers about the ongoing operations.

The project is part of a specific enhancement strategy which, beginning with the removal of cars from Giardino Grande, has allowed Palazzo Venezia to return to the spotlight for both international tourists and local visitors, after long being perceived by the public as an opaque and distant place.
