Explore the Collection
Conceived and directed by VIVE Director Dr. Edith Gabrielli, the project aims to provide a systematic cataloguing of the Institute's collections.
So far, more than 550 entries have been compiled (in both English and Italian) by seventy-nine experts, all of whom have been coordinated by three distinguished academics:
- Alessandro Tomei, former full professor of Medieval Art History at the Gabriele d’Annunzio University, Chieti-Pescara (entries on medieval art);
- Barbara Agosti, full professor of Early Modern Art History at Tor Vergata University, Rome (entries on early modern art);
- Valerio Terraroli, full professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History, University of Verona (entries on modern and contemporary art).
The research and cataloguing work has led to a critical reevaluation of the artworks—including those in storage—with revised attributions and dating. As a result of this project, essential elements have emerged for all of VIVE’s preservation and valorization activities, including conservation, the design of new displays, and a temporary exhibitions program.
