Reintegrazioni: dai depositi al percorso di visita

The cycle centers on a selection of works from the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia collections. These pieces, spanning various periods and techniques, have been brought back into focus thanks to a systematic cataloging campaign initiated by VIVE Director Edith Gabrielli and carried out under the supervision of Alessandro Tomei for the Middle Ages, Barbara Agosti for the Early Modern period, and Valerio Terraroli for the 19th and 20th centuries.
The title alludes to the reintegration of these works, now in storage, into the visitor itinerary that is currently being rearranged. The works include: the fragment of the Byzantine door from the Roman basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, the medal depicting Faustina Major and Antoninus Pius shaking hands, by Filarete, the Madonna of the Walnut by Saturnino Gatti, the model of the Fountain of the Four Rivers in Piazza Navona by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and the so-called Shield of Giuseppe Garibaldi by Antonio Ximenes.
