On Thursday, April 28, the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini and the director of the VIVE Institute Edith Gabrielli presented the project of the new set-up of Palazzo Venezia in the Sala Regia of the palace. Curated for the museological part by Edith Gabrielli and for the museographic part by the well-known architect Michele De Lucchi, the project involves the entire noble floor of the building, including the rooms between Piazza Venezia and Via del Plebiscito, now empty. The public will be able to admire again hundreds of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, weapons, furniture, jewels, fabrics and other examples of applied and decorative arts, most of which are now kept in the deposits.
"The establishment of autonomous museums of the recent years has proved to be an excellent tool that is successfully contributing to the modernization of the national museum system. The project of the new set-up of the monumental halls of Palazzo Venezia created by Edith Gabrielli and Michele De Lucchi fully follows this direction, making it possible to enhance the prestigious spaces after long years of silence and to show the works kept in the deposits and unknown to the public ", - the Minister Dario Franceschini affirms. The director Edith Gabrielli: "A little more than a year since it became fully operative, precisely since December 2020, the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia institute has not only taken its own path, but is also starting to produce the expected results. The numbers speak for themselves: the state of emergency ended, and the public has rediscovered both museums. In particular, thanks to this new museological and museographic dimension, Palazzo Venezia, sensitive to its original vocation and therefore to the sectors of applied arts and Made-in-Italy, intends to further expand the offer of the roman museum panorama ".
