National Poetry Theater Festival – “The Seasons of Poetry”

The first national Poetry Theater Festival arrives, set to reach all of Italy starting from Rome and traveling as far as Ragusa, Sicily. Conceived by the poet Davide Rondoni and by David Riondino, it is supported by the Center for Books and Reading and promoted and organized by the Donnafugata 2000 Cultural Association of the namesake theater in Ragusa. A project that aims to bring the poetic word back to the center of public life and the main Italian theaters. The first edition, titled “The Seasons of Poetry,” will start at the VIVE in Palazzo Venezia on May 29th, with the performance 'Maddalena c’est moi' by Davide Rondoni, performed by Iaia Forte with live music by Danilo Rossi, and on June 5th, with the performance 'Cantami qualcosa pari alla vita – Paesaggio, architettura e poesia', conceived and hosted by Davide Rondoni with Federica Stagni and Virgilio Volante.

“The VIVE museum complex – emphasized its director Edith Gabrielli – opens up to all disciplines and their contaminations, a choice that is rooted in the very history of our spaces. We encourage interactions tailored to our audience that start from the heritage we safeguard; in fact, the performance we are hosting, ‘Maddalena c’est moi,’ will be in dialogue with our exhibition on Piero di Cosimo’s Magdalene regarding Renaissance women.”
The Poetry Theater Festival: “The Seasons of Poetry,” is configured as a widespread cultural journey, capable of crossing the country to promote poetic reading, the enhancement of Italian publishing, the involvement of new audiences – particularly young people – and the construction of a national network of “Poetry Theaters.”

The two special appointments at VIVE:

Maddalena c’est moi (Magdalene, it is I)
Friday, May 29, 7:00 PM

by Davide Rondoni
with Iaia Forte
live music by Danilo Rossi

A single voice traverses the figure of Mary Magdalene, restoring her to her most human and contemporary truth.
From the harshness of an exposed body and a “frozen” soul to the decisive encounter with Christ, the performance follows a path of intimate and radical transformation.
A theater of word and music that investigates the boundary between wound and redemption, giving back to Magdalene a living, concrete, and profoundly current strength.
