Tactile experience at Palazzo Venezia: Lapidarium

Art and history at everyone's service
Tactile tour for families
Saturday, August 8, 2026, 10:30 AM

The activity offers a tactile guided tour designed for families, aimed at discovering the Lapidarium of Palazzo Venezia through inclusive, multisensory, and participatory methods.
The route takes place within the suggestive setting of the upper loggia of the Viridarium, or secret garden of Pope Paul II Barbo, and leads participants to discover the Lapidarium. This important exhibition collection preserves about one hundred and twenty marble works dating from the classical age to the Renaissance.
The experience will allow visitors to get close to the artifacts through direct contact with surfaces, reliefs, volumes, and ornamental details, fostering a deeper perception of the material and sculptural qualities of the works. The tactile reading will be accompanied by a narrative connecting the artifacts to their historical context of origin, reconstructing the events that led to their creation, use, and subsequent rediscovery.

LOCATION: Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Venezia entrance, Via del Plebiscito, 118
