Tactile experience at Palazzo Venezia: the collections

Art and History at the service of all
Tactile tour for adults at Palazzo Venezia
Saturday, November 23, 2024, 10:30 a.m.

An expert guide in museum accessibility leads visitors to get to know Palazzo Venezia through a multisensory approach. The tour will begin in the garden to recognize among the many species the shaggy barks of Japanese palms, the sweet scent of magnolia flowers, and the serrated leaves of acanthus plants. From here it will continue with a tactile exploration of the Loggia Grande and the telling of the story of the building's founder, Pope Paul II Barbo. Finally, inside, participants will refine their tactile plantar sense on some of the details of the floors, identify decorative motifs on the door exhibits, and compare the types, textures and patterns of different materials used from the Renaissance to the present. The tour is also developed in collaboration with UICI - Unione Italiana Ciechi e Ipovedenti in line with VIVE's commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
