Pastel portraits

Children and families at VIVE
Guided tour with creative workshop for families
Sunday, September 13, 2026, 4:00 PM

The initiative offers an educational activity for families that combines the discovery of museum collections with a workshop experience focused on learning artistic portraiture techniques. Beginning with the observation of selected portraits displayed in the museum rooms, such as the Portrait of the Children of Virginio Orsini by Tiberio Titi and the Double Portrait attributed to Giorgione, the tour will continue into the room housing the pastels from the collection of George W. Wurts and Henrietta Tower. During the visit, each participant will be invited to choose one of the observed portraits and create a life sketch, developing skills in observation, synthesis, and image interpretation.
The activity will then proceed to the workshop, where children and adults can experiment firsthand with the pastel technique. Working from the sketches made during the tour, participants will be guided in refining and completing their artwork using color and shading techniques.

LOCATION: Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Venezia entrance, Via del Plebiscito, 118
