National Landscape Day at VIVE - The Gardens of Palazzo Venezia

- Guided tour for adults
- Thursday 14 March 2024, 4.30 pm

On 14 March, on the occasion of National Landscape Day, instituted by the MiC, VIVE invites adults and children to participate in the events that enhance the natural and artistic heritage of Palazzo Venezia with the aim of "promoting the culture of landscape in all its forms and raising awareness of the issues related to it".

The guided tour leads the public to discover the natural landscapes enclosed within the architecture of Palazzo Venezia, from the Great Garden to the secret hanging garden or viridarium, in a journey through art, history and nature. Starting from the fountain created by Carlo Monaldi in the 18th century, representing the marriage between Venice and the sea, we observe the plant species present and explore the transformations that have taken place over the centuries. We continue inside the majestic residence, the residence of popes, cardinals and ambassadors, to reach the viridarium where, amidst laurel hedges and citrus trees, unusual views of the architectural elements can be seen.

The visit also becomes an opportunity to reflect together on the social function of greenery in the museum.
