Guided tour of the exhibition "Rome in coin. Art and power in the history of the Eternal City"

The thousand stories of VIVE
Guided tour for adults
Friday, September 13, 2026, at 8:00 PM

The activity offers a guided tour of the exhibition section Roma in moneta. Arte e potere nella storia della città eterna, hosted in Sala Zanardelli. Divided across three venues, the exhibition project uses coins as key tools to reconstruct crucial moments in the history and culture of Rome, bringing them into dialogue with artworks, paintings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, installations, and artifacts of material culture.
At Vittoriano, the tour accompanies visitors on a discovery of the role that coin production played in the modern and contemporary ages. Among the most prominent works on display are the Messale della Rovere illuminated by Jacopo Ravaldi, a masterpiece of 15th-century illumination (Turin, State Archives); the Portrait of Pope Alexander VII Chigi by Gianlorenzo Bernini (Rome, Gallerie Nazionali d'Arte Antica); and Untitled by Maurizio Cattelan, which concludes the narrative on the European present.

LOCATION: Entrance of Vittoriano, Ara Coeli side
