Guided tour of the exhibition Rome in coin. Art and power in the history of the Eternal City

The thousand stories of VIVE
Guided tour for adults
Friday, July 24, 2026, 8:00 PM

The activity offers a guided tour of the section of the exhibition Rome in coin. Art and power in the history of the Eternal City, hosted in Sala Zanardelli. The exhibition project, divided across three venues, uses coins as interpretation keys to reconstruct some crucial moments of Rome's history and culture, bringing them into dialogue with artworks, paintings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, installations, and evidence of material culture.
At Vittoriano, the tour itinerary guides the public through the discovery of the role that coin production played in the modern and contemporary eras. Among the most prominent works on display are Messale della Rovere decorated by Jacopo Ravaldi, a masterpiece of 15th-century miniature painting (Turin, State Archives); Ritratto di papa Alessandro VII Chigi by Gianlorenzo Bernini (Rome, Gallerie Nazionali d’Arte Antica); and Untitled by Maurizio Cattelan, which closes the narrative on the European present.

LOCATION: Entrance of Vittoriano, Ara Coeli side
