The geographical and historical narration of Italy in the Vittoriano sculptures

Children and families at VIVE
Animated visit for families in Italian
Sunday 26 January 2025, 4 p.m.

Starting with the fountains with the personifications of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, and continuing with the goddess Rome and the depictions of the ‘noble’ cities in the pedestal of the equestrian statue of Victor Emmanuel II, the visit will lead participants to discover the sculptures of the sixteen Regions in the Sommoportico and the stone of Monte Grappa. Through stories and the deciphering of symbols and allegories, adults and children will be directed to recognise the places, the subjects of the personifications and to place cities or seas on the map, accompanying them with drawings of the identifying attributes observed during the visit; as a conclusion to the tour, participants will draw on the map the route of the train that, crossing a large part of the peninsula, transported the coffin of the Unknown Soldier to Rome.
