The geographic and historic narrative of Italy in the sculptures of Vittoriano

The Thousand Stories of VIVE
Engaging Family Tour
Monday, June 2, 2025, 4:00 PM

Starting from the fountains depicting the personifications of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, and continuing with the goddess Roma, along with the representations of "noble" cities on the pedestal of the equestrian statue of Vittorio Emanuele II, the tour will lead participants to discover the sculptures of the sixteen Regions in the Sommoportico and the stone from Monte Grappa.
Through stories and the deciphering of symbols and allegories, adults and children will learn to recognize places and the subjects of the personifications, and to locate cities or seas on a map. They'll also add drawings of the identifying attributes observed during the visit. To conclude the experience, participants will draw on the map the route of the train that transported the coffin of the Unknown Soldier to Rome, crossing a large part of the peninsula.

LOCATION: Vittoriano, Ara Coeli side entrance
