Discovering the Vittoriano

The Thousand Stories of VIVE
- Guided tour
- Sunday, March 24, 11 am

The visit to the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, or Vittoriano, is an unmissable experience for all, Italians and non-Italians. The complex was designed in January 1878 in honour of the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II and the whole unfolding of the Risorgimento. Since 1921 it has housed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other memories of our history. Participants enter through the monumental gate on Piazza Venezia, climb up to the Altar of the Fatherland and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, look at the statue of Victor Emmanuel II on horseback, remain breathless in front of the dimensions of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommoportico. We continue with a visit to the temporary exhibition "Angelo Zanelli and the Altar of the Fatherland" where we explore in depth the sculptural decoration of the monument to finally reach, the spectacular Panoramic Terrace at the top and enjoy a unique view of the city of Rome.
