The visit to the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, or Vittoriano, represents an unmissable experience for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of Italian history and art. The complex, conceived in January 1878 in honor of the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II, and of the entire Risorgimento process, since 1921 has welcomed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other memories of our history. Participants cross the entrance through the monumental gate on piazza Venezia, go up to the Altar of the Fatherland and to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, observe the statue of Vittorio Emanuele II on horseback, and remain breathless in front of the dimensions of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommoportico.
