Discovering the Vittoriano

The thousand stories of VIVE
Guided tour for adults in Italian
Sunday 26 January 2025, 11 a.m.

A visit to the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, or Vittoriano, is an unmissable experience for anyone wishing to delve into Italian history and art. The complex, conceived in January 1878 in honour of the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II, and of the entire Risorgimento process, since 1921 has housed the Tomba del Milite Ignoto and other memories of our history. Participants cross the entrance through the monumental gate on Piazza Venezia, climb up to the Altare della Patria and the Tomba del Milite Ignoto, gaze at the statue of Victor Emmanuel II on horseback, and remain breathless in front of the dimensions of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommoportico.
