For many centuries the residence of popes, cardinals, ambassadors and artists, Palazzo Venezia is a magnificent Renaissance residence in the heart of Rome. Few buildings in the city – perhaps none – encompass such a wealth of history, art and culture. Through the stories told by our guides, its austere and imposing façades, reminiscent of the walls of an ancient fortress, open up to reveal a complex of loggias, walkways and gardens filled with precious plants and botanical species, as well as rooms and masterpieces dating from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. Leaving the city traffic behind, visitors are led along a path suspended between wonder and admiration.
The tour takes visitors on an itinerary that reveals the palace not only as an extraordinary setting for works of art, but also as a living record of the transformations that have shaped Rome from the Renaissance to the present day.
