Call for Participation: CALL FOR PAPERS

On October 19, 20, and 21, 2026, Rome will host the international research conference "So Far Apart, So Close. Italy, the Mediterranean and Africa from the Fourteenth to the Twentieth Century". The event is promoted and organized by the Department for the Valorization of Cultural Heritage (DiVa) of the Ministry of Culture, the National Roman Museum, the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum and VIVE – Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia.

This initiative represents the final outcome of the project of the same name launched in 2025. It aligns with the strategic political priorities defined by the Minister of Culture, which include dedicated studies and research on Africa and the "Broadened Mediterranean" within the framework of the so-called Mattei Plan.
