“On the surface of the frieze, we noticed the presence of white-washing that we assume to be either restoration or original or calcium carbonate perculations from the botticino marble”, explains the restorer Susanna Sarmati. "In order to identify the composition of the white-wash, samplings will be taken at different points of the frieze. The samples will be identified in the areas where the material is most compact, they will be marked with a label and then photographed. After that, some material will be taken, which, placed in sterile container, will be delivered to the laboratory".
