Disinfestation of the surface from colonies of microorganisms was carried out through essential oils extracted from thyme and rosemary in order to remove lichens, algae, and fungi safely and without harming the surroundings or people's health.
On the other hand, the removal of incoherent deposits on the stone material, which do not alter the chemical composition, was carried out through simple mechanical systems, such as integrated vacuum cleaners, soft brushes, and brushes. For fine dust and carbonaceous dust deposited on the surface, it was necessary to subject the material to low-pressure washing with deionized water. This approach, which combines chemical action with a moderate mechanical and scouring action, made it possible to remove most of the solubilized salts.
