Cleaning highlights the considerable amount of gold leaf gilding still present on the surface of the bronze Winged Victory, made by Edoardo Rubino of Turin (1871-1954). Behind the Victory stands a bronze pinnacle, executed by Gaetano Vannicola (1859-1923), fitted with a base decorated with festoons and culminating in an eagle.
The team of restorers carried out the removal of oxidation patinas on the upper part of the flagpole and the cleaning of the lower part through the removal of oxidation with compresses of resins with ion exchange, applied through a brush and removed with soft brushes.
Where gilding is not present, the gaps were retouched with natural pigments-natural sienna and black-through the application of Laropal A81 as a binder.
A specific protective coating was applied to the entire surface.
