On the occasion of the Italian National Unity and Armed Forces Day, Friday 4 November, the Institute offers a programme of guided tours and animated itineraries for children and families on the themes of citizenship, participation and collective and shared historical memory. Appointments are planned from 4 to 6 November, both during the day and on the occasion of special evening openings, to offer new opportunities to learn more about the history, art and architecture of the VIVE monuments, from the Renaissance to the contemporary age.
Guiding adults and children through the history of the Vittoriano and the Central Museum of the Risorgimento will be the numerous itineraries for families with children: I’ll tell you a story, a journey through the dreams and principles held by numerous generations of Italians and the animated visit Stories of Heroes, that leads us to learn about the heroes and heroines who helped shape Italy's history. Adults will also be able to enjoy the special tour The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the memories of the Great War in the Vittoriano, which will start at the Altar of the Fatherland, passing through the Piazzale del Bollettino - where will be displayed the epigraph of the document that General Armando Diaz, supreme commander of the Royal Italian Army, signed on November 4, 1918 to announce Italy's victory in World War I - and will end at the Central Museum of the Risorgimento where the cannon shaft on which the coffin of the Unknown Soldier was carried is preserved.
