On Wednesday, 20 November, the presentation of the last three volumes of Epistolario di Giuseppe Garibaldi was held in the Refectory Room of Palazzo Venezia. The event, part of the Dialogues on the Risorgimento cycle, is the result of the synergy between the VIVE, the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento and the Rome Committee of the same Institute.
The Director of the VIVE, Edith Gabrielli, opened the meeting, which was moderated by Professor Ester Capuzzo of the University of Rome La Sapienza. Following this, Professors Gian Biagio Furiozzi from the University of Perugia, Antonio D'Alessandri from the University of Roma Tre, Gabriele Paolini from the University of Florence and Professor Silvia Tatti from La Sapienza University contributed to the discussion.
The volumes, XV, XVI and XVII respectively, published by the Institute for the History of the Risorgimento contain more than 2,000 letters, both published and unpublished, and represent a valuable tool for reconstructing Garibaldi's life, activities and network of relations with national and international politicians, as well as with intellectuals of the time and friends between 1871 and 1876, in order to shed light not only on Garibaldi's historical figure, but also on his private life.
