The Notion of Renaissance, Between History and Myth. Origins, Transformations, New Perspectives

From 24 to 27 May, VIVE - Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia, in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Hertziana - Max Planck Institute for the History of Art, is organizing and hosting an important international conference: "The Notion of Renaissance, Between History and Myth. Origins, Transformations, New Perspectives". Scientific Organization: Edith Gabrielli (VIVE - Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia), Massimiliano Rossi (University of Salento) and Tristan Weddigen (Bibliotheca Hertziana).

This conference will explore the many notions of Renaissance through the centuries, examining the key figures, artistic practices and paradigms that help keep its fire burning five hundred years later. The title references the dialectic relationship between the different eras that have contributed to the current notion of “Renaissance”, as too the challenging historiographic issue of “Renaissance” and “Modernity”.

In memory of Alessio Monciatti
