After 29 weeks of work, the restoration of the central sector of the Altar of the Fatherland, including the statue Goddess Rome, has also been completed. Of the monumental marble artwork, it is once again possible to appreciate all the decorative details, such as those that characterize the elaborate helmet worn by the goddess.
The silver statuette of Winged Victory, which the deity holds in her left hand, has also regained its original luster following the removal of patinas caused by oxidation of the metal.
Restorers also worked on the golden mosaic decorating the niche housing the statue, which has finally returned to its original splendor.
