Cleaning operations on the central portion of the Altar of the Fatherland have finally been completed, and restorers can now proceed with the grouting.
With a mixture of the same color as the marble surface, composed of lime, botticino powder and travertine powder, the gaps between the blocks are being repaired.
For the most degraded areas of the frieze, nanolime is used, which, applied by brush, consolidates the surface and prevents lichens from adhering again.
