Week 26. Cleaning work continues: resins and ammonium carbonate compresses have been removed

Now in their 26th week of the restoration site, restorers are completing cleaning operations on the central portion of the Altar of the Fatherland frieze.

Ion exchange resins have been brushed off the marble surface and ammonium carbonate compresses removed. Next, using a scalpel, the operators removed the dark deposits now dissolved as a result of the treatments.

Finally, the residues were removed with mains water and brushes.
