Week 24. The Goddess Rome: the beginning of cleaning work

Restorers have begun the cleaning phase of the monumental Goddess Rome: the marble surface was first treated with a biocide, which allowed the manual removal of lichen deposits using brushes, sponges and distilled water. 

The cleaning involved the statue of the Goddess, the surrounding areas, and the gold mosaic, which is located at the bottom of the niche and houses the large sculpture.
