Vittoriano
The restoration work site finally makes it possible to admire the majestic Goddess Rome: the Botticino marble sculpture stands in the center of the Altar of the Fatherland, inside an aedicule. The Goddess stands wearing a Roman peplos and goatskin, a helmet and a crown with wolf heads. In her right hand is a silver spear and in her left is a statuette of a winged Victory.
The multi-material choice of Angelo Zanelli, who combines deep classical inspiration with the culture of the Viennese Secession and Gustav Klimt, appears evident here.
