Week 20. The conservation condition of the central portion of the frieze.

The scaffold, set up at the central area of the frieze, allows the restorers to closely analyze the stone surface of this new portion.

Dark deposits of biodeteriogens (lichens, fungi and algae) are clearly visible, which are particularly concentrated in the upper part of the frieze; in the areas adjacent to the cornice there is - in particular - a high concentration of lichens.

Evident to everyone's eye is the difference between the portions of the frieze that have undergone restoration and have been properly cleaned versus those that have yet to be cleaned.
