Structures

SERIES: Building Telling Architecture
SPEAKER: Maria Claudia Clemente and Francesco Isidori, architects
DATE: Thursday, March 28, 6 p.m.

The lecture, titled "Structures," will analyze the relationship between Abstraction and Constructiveness through the concept of structure, a polysemantic term around which the firm's research revolves. If the structure (load-bearing) is, on the one hand, an essential element of architecture, without which it could not be built; on the other hand, it refers to an intrinsically abstract concept concerning the constitution and distribution of elements that, in a relationship of correlation and functional interdependence, form an organic complex. Thus, in the term structure coexist the two seemingly opposite poles of abstraction and construction that find a synthesis in the form-architecture. The lecture will focus on analyzing the methodological and cultural implications of a structural conception of architecture.
