The restoration of “The Action” - Cleaning

Restorers began the cleaning phases of the sculpture by Francesco Jerace (1853-1937), starting with the base, through the application of compresses

In areas where black crust deposits are present, ammonium carbonate compresses are applied, using paper pulp as a carrier and covering with aluminum foil to keep the compress moist for as long as possible.

After about thirty minutes, the compress is removed and the now solubilized dirt is removed mechanically with brushes and water.
