In the exhibition route, after exploring the period of Pope Innocent III, his political and religious ideas, and admiring “live” one of the works of his time that has reached the present day, the Lunette of the Niche of the Pallia, visitors are offered a highly fascinating and evocative immersive experience.
Thanks to an installation, realized using the most modern technologies of 3D digital modelling and virtual reality, the ancient Basilica of St. Peter is recreated on the walls and the floor as it must have appeared at the time of Innocent III.
Visitors thus find themselves catapulted inside the medieval basilica, reconstructed thanks to the study of ancient iconographic sources and descriptions of the period. While maintaining scholar rigour, the installation is intended to evoke a long distance past and involve spectators in an exciting sequence of images, sounds and 3D animations
