Moonlight Postcards at the Vittoriano

Children and families at VIVE
Family Workshop
Friday 6 September, 7.30 p.m.

The Vittoriano was designed by architect Giuseppe Sacconi in honour of the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II in 1882-1883: work was not completed until the 1930s. Considered the highest symbol of united and independent Italy, the Vittoriano soon became a pivotal place in the nation's collective imagination. Young and old alike are invited to discover its history, architecture and art with an animated narration tailor-made for them. Visitors set off on a journey back in time, walk along stairways and panoramic terraces, admire the city from above thanks to a breathtaking view, and finally reinvent the places of exploration by making illustrated postcards, full of suggestions and colours.
