Young aristocrats and bourgeoisie explored the Eternal City in the 17th and 18th centuries in search of ancient ruins, wonders and art treasures: this was the famous Grand Tour, the culmination of an educational journey that often ended in Italy, in Naples or Rome. Many of them pass by Palazzo Venezia, attracted by the archaeological finds and art objects, as well as the sumptuous parties organised by the ambassadors of the Venetian Republic. The interdisciplinary visit to Palazzo Venezia allows students to rediscover the history of travellers of yesteryear, such as Goethe, Keats and Shelley, as well as illustrious guests such as Mozart, who held a concert here, and Antonio Canova, who set up his artist's studio in the historic residence. Stage by stage the students create an image dedicated to the Piazza Venezia area by combining views of the past and photographs of today.
