Italy's geographical and historical narrative in Vittoriano sculptures

The thousand stories of the LIVE
Animated visit for families in Italian
Sunday, October 20, 2024, 4 p.m.

Starting with the fountains with the personifications of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, and continuing with the Goddess Rome, with the depictions of the “noble” cities in the pedestal of the equestrian statue of Victor Emmanuel II, the tour will lead participants to discover the sculptures of the sixteen Italian Regions present in the crowning attic of the Sommoportico and the stone of Monte Grappa. Visitors will be able to recognize the places, the subjects of the personifications, and place cities or seas on the map, accompanying them with drawings of the identifying attributes observed during the visit; as a conclusion to the tour, participants will draw on the map the route of the train that, crossing much of the peninsula, transported the coffin of the Unknown Soldier to Rome.
