Discovering the Vittoriano

The thousand stories of the LIVE
Guided tour for adults in Italian
Sunday, October 20, 2024, 11 a.m.

A visit to the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, or Vittoriano, is an unmissable experience for anyone who wants to learn more about Italian history and art. The complex, conceived in January 1878 in honor of Italy's first king, Victor Emmanuel II, and the entire Risorgimento process, has housed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other reminders of our history since 1921. Participants pass through the entrance through the monumental gate on Piazza Venezia, ascend to the Altar of the Fatherland and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, view the statue of Victor Emmanuel II on horseback, and remain breathless at the size of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommoportico.
