Discovering the Vittoriano

The thousand stories of the VIVE
Guided tour for adults in Italian
Sunday 30 March 2025, 11 a.m.

A visit to the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, or Vittoriano, is an unmissable experience for anyone who wants to learn more about Italian history and art. The complex, conceived in January 1878 in honour of the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II, and of the entire Risorgimento process, since 1921 has housed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other memories of our history. Participants will enter through the monumental gate on Piazza Venezia, ascend to the Altar of the Fatherland and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, gaze at the statue of Vittorio Emanuele II on horseback, and remain breathless at the size of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommoportico. The visit will continue by taking participants to the spectacular Panoramic Terrace at the top, where they will enjoy a unique view of the city of Rome.
