From 28 to 30 December 2021 and from 2 to 9 January 2022, children (5-12 years) and adults alike will enjoy the dense programme of free, family-friendly animated tours and special events offered by VIVE, including tours in Italian sign language, to actively get to know and engage with two of Italy's most famous monuments.
Between the Past and the Present
Animated tours and educational tours for families and kids
A hanging garden, a market, a gigantic stage, even a traffic divider: leafing through the maps of Piazza Venezia, no matter if real or imagined, is like looking at an illustrated history book. A journey through the Renaissance architecture of Palazzo Venezia and the modernity of the Vittoriano, to discover the historical and artistic events that have transformed these places into true icons. Together, we’ll create a family emotion map, where we’ll render visible the details, colours, themes and impressions that most captured our attention.
A special itinerary dedicated to discovering Palazzo Venezia through an animated narration designed specifically for adults and children together. We will set off on a journey through time, we will cross gardens, loggias and monumental halls, we will imagine life in the palace over the centuries through art, music and literature and, like travellers from other ages, the participants will be able to create colourful illustrated postcards in which to reinvent the environments explored.
The symbol of a united Italy and then of a republican Italy, the Vittoriano is a place of the collective consciousness. Born as an avant-garde art project, a new modern forum, it then served as the scenography for countless films and television programs. A suggestive visit to explore the great spaces of the Vittoriano together, to retrace its history and discover similarities and differences with the art and architecture of the past. Like a puzzle, the participants will be able to graphically reconstruct the iconic image of the Victorian, inspired by the gaze of artists and architects.
Guided tours are available only to those with an admission ticket, which can be purchased at the Palazzo Venezia ticket office (118 Via del Plebiscito) and, during normal operating hours, at the Vittoriano at the base of the elevators. The ticket is valid for 7 days for one entry to Palazzo Venezia, one entry to the Panoramic Terrace of the Vittoriano, and one entry to the Central Museum of the Risorgimento.
The animated tour is included in the cost of admission, will last approximately 2 hours, and is subject to availability. Visitors should be at the Palazzo Venezia ticket office (118 Via del Plebiscito) 15 minutes before the tour. Reservations are recommended: vi-ve.edu@cultura.gov.it .
All Covid-19 rules and regulations will be followed. Guests must have a Green Pass and wear their mask correctly in order to participate.
