“Bronze & Gold” is the first in a number of exhibition projects driven and conceived by VIVE director Edith Gabrielli to promote and showcase the collection of Palazzo Venezia and the Vittoriano to a wider audience, fully in keeping with the extensive research and outreach programme enacted since the Institute opened in 2020. The programme will feature works not normally on show to the public (and stored in the depots) but recently restored and the focus of major research by renowned experts, flanked by young academics.
“Given the exceptional visitor flows, scientific demands and full accessibility must work together at VIVE, and even more so at the Vittoriano.” says VIVE director “Bronze & Gold” is curated by the expert Alessandro Tomei and is the first in a series of exhibitions centred on precisely this combination.”
A large number of illustrations and abundant information introduce visitors to the masterpiece, contextualising the period in history and in the history of art. Thanks to an installation created via modern 3D digital modelling and virtual reality technologies, St Peter’s Basilica in the times of Innocent III materialises on the walls and floor of a new immersive room.
