Giuseppe Sacconi, who died in 1905, was the great architect of the Vittoriano. The atrium, which houses the bronze bust of Sacconi, grants access to the galleries that bear his name.

On the walls, there are four plaster models of as many reliefs by sculptor Giuseppe Tonnini (1875-1954), from Le Marche region: Tonnini created them between 1908 and 1910, for the decoration of the Main Colonnade, dedicated, inter alia, to The New Sciences. These reliefs, in fact, depict Geography, Physics, Mineralogy and Medicine.
